Hi Leszek!
Do you have any further information, i.e. date and place of birth or any letter from him with a number of war post?
First thing to do would be to ask the Deutsches Rote Kreuz - Suchdienst in Munich.
Most of the missing people in World War II have been registrated there.

You can get information about his military career at WASt, but it may be difficult without any date of birth.
Perhaps it makes things easier that the name is rare. If they have information, you'll get the number of the Erkennungsmarke and all known stations of his career.
You can make the reaqest online, but it may last a year until you'll get an answer.

Dear Friend ,
Thanks for info. I just sent e-mail to DRK with question about uncle.
We also need more details about him for better searching . Maybe when we get something more from DRK we will receive answer wrom WaSt ?

Hello, Leszek !
Are you sure that this picture comes from a newspaper. To me it looks like Deathcard.

Hallo zusammen,
hallo, Berliner !
Ortssuche:
Berlin- Bernau - dorf : Grifnitz

Marion

Hi Kris!
Do you have any document where the place of birth is named? And if so, could you scan it and place it here in thread (you can black out the rest of the dates)? Just to checker wether it could be a transcription error, especially old german writing is sometimes difficult to read.

Hi Kris!
I agree with Snicker, check the polish original. Maybe it is the today called city Gryfice in former West Pomerania.
Why do you think, it must be near Berlin?
I just see, you're also suggesting that this may be the real place we're searching for.
